Nintendo DSi Vs Nintendo DS

The Nintendo DSi, which was released earlier this month, has many upgrades or differences, depending on how you look at it, than the Nintendo DS. To begin with the Nintendo DSi will have a more matte finish on the case then the Nintendo DS which has a glossy finish and leaves more fingerprints behind. The Nintendo DS has only a 3 inch screen whereas the Nintendo DSi features a 3.25 inch game-playing screen; and the system weight for the Nintendo DSi is approximately 214g including the touch pen, with the Nintendo DS weighing in at approximately 218g which includes the touch pen and a Game Boy advance cover.

As far as the power button is concerned, the Nintendo DSi is located on the front of the system on the bottom left side unlike the original DS where it is located on the upper right side of the face. The DS Lite moved the power source to the side of the machine and made it into a slider mechanism instead of a button like the originals. If you want to play you are new Nintendo DSi, you better hurry up because the battery life is shorter. For example on the lowest brightness setting the Nintendo DSi will last only nine to 14 hours; on the low brightness setting you will get eight to 12 hours of game time; on medium brightness one could play for six to nine hours; on high brightness, only four to six hours and on highest brightness the battery will run out between three and four hours of usage. Compare this to the Nintendo DS battery life which allows 15 to 19 hours of game play on the lowest brightness setting; 10 to 15 hours on the low brightness setting; seven to 11 hours on the high brightness setting and a full five to eight hours on the highest brightness setting.

The power supplies are both AC adapters however they are not interchangeable. The Nintendo DS will play all Game Boy Advance games however the Nintendo DSi will not play any of the Game Boy Advance games however it will play all the Nintendo DS games and of course the Nintendo DSi games designated especially for this handheld device.

Another difference between the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi Console is that the Nintendo DSi is equipped with two cameras. The first one, a 0.3 megapixel, is located on the inside of the handheld device in order to take a picture of your self as you are playing your game. The second camera is positioned on the back of the structure and is a 3MP style camera for taking normal photographs and videos.

There are similarities between the Nintendo DS and the new Nintendo DSi. Both handheld video games can display 260,000 in addition to the layout of the actual game being the same and all the shoulder and face buttons are in the same place on both games. Plus the Select and Start buttons are in exactly the same place.
