Nintendo DSi Light Blue

The new Nintendo DSi Light Blue enables you to create, customise and share photos with friends & family, listen to and play with your favourite music and sounds, play over 1000 existing Nintendo DS games and download games directly to the console through the Nintendo DSi Shop which is accessible through the console.

The two back-lit LCD screens offer groundbreaking gameplay advances. Each screen can reproduce a true quality 3D view, with impressive 3D renderings. The lower screen offers the usual touch-screen capabilities so you no longer rely on just buttons to move your character or shift perspectives.

The Nintendo DSi Camera software (using touch screen and facial recognition technology) allows you to apply special effects before and after taking pictures. You can change colours, create a composite picture, add graffiti, distort the image using your stylus and much more. You can even combine separate faces to make weird hybrids of your friends and family.

The biggest hardware changes to the DSi are the addition of two integrated cameras, an integrated SD slot, enlarging the screens by 0.25", expanded RAM, and the removal of the much beloved GameBoy Advance cartridge slot.

In the world of software, Nintendo DSi Console will be the platform for the most relevant and fun on-the-go games and applications.

Two cameras, downloadable Nintendo DSiWare and the ability to play your favourite music via SD cards make it easy to apply your own personal touch to your Nintendo DSi, no matter where you are. And with larger screens, built-in Internet browsing capabilities and an even slimmer design, the Nintendo DSi redefines gaming on the go.

Your can customise your Nintendo DSi by downloading games and applications from the DSi Shop, in addition to being able to carry around your Nintendo DSi with your very own unique photos & music files.

Music playback is one of the Nintendo DSi's Light Blue big new features, but inexplicably it won't play MP3s – it's AAC or nothing. Playback is harsh and digital-sounding, but you can have a bit of fun with its built-in effects and play-along instruments.

This new firmware includes various media and online applications that allow you to interact with photos and music. The new layout is very similar to that of the much loved Nintendo Wii, where different "channels" or applications can be scrolled through and moved around.

Nintendo DSi Light Blue Summary

In addition to all of the new features, the Nintendo DSi Light Blue comes in a matt finish and is a full 12% thinner than the Nintendo DS Lite, making it Nintendo's most portable handheld ever. However, it also packs a punch with a bigger, brighter, 3.25" screen. The Nintendo DSi has been designed to enable players to use almost all of their existing games on the new console, so those who already have a Nintendo DS won't have to re-stock their library.
