In 2004, the market was divided between the new releases of Nintendo and Sony, DS and PSP respectively. The Nintendo DS came first followed by Sony PSP. Consumers were delighted with the Nintendo DS and has once again got addicted to classic Nintendo games. Added to the fact that it came our first, Nintendo DS created an edge over Sony's PSP though the latter was also received by the public with much awe. Nintendo DS and Sony PSP differ greatly in appearance. The Nintendo DS has a rough unfinished aspect compared to PSP's smooth finish. Weight-wise, the Nintendo DS is lighter with its 300-gram weight in comparison to Sony PSP's 309 grams weight. After this great difference comes the screen size where DS's 3.0 loses over PSP's 4.3 screen. But take note that one of the screens of DS is touch screen therefore offers a higher level of interactivity between the user and the console. This feature was improved later on when Nintendo released the Nintendo DSi that consumers were delight to buy Nintendo DSi instead.
If there are areas which Nintendo did not initially think of, it is on the audio/video side. Music and video features were not initially available on DS but were already present in Sony PSP. Two great features that is a cool add-on on the latest release of Nintendo making consumers want to buy Nintendo DSi on top of the consoles they already have.
The empty holes of the DS were given much thought and attention, therefore in 2006, a lighter version appeared on the market which they named DS Lite. Later on, in 2008 to be exact, Nintendo released the third generation which is now the Nintendo DSi aiming to conquer the lost grounds.

DSi succeeds to be apart from a portable game console, a multimedia device with its two 0.3 mega pixel cameras, the built-in voice recorder, and a music player to boot.
